Sunsella Silicone Cupcake Liners

If you've been reading this blog for a while then you know I'm a big fan of making all those expensive bath goodies you see at the mall from the comfort of my own home for a fraction of the price. And one of the things I really like to make are bath bombs, I've probably made close to 50 of them in the past year. One of the key parts to making nice bath bombs is the container I'm molding them in. I personally prefer a silicone mold because of how easy it is to get my finished product out without busting it apart. So when I was given the opportunity to test out a new set of silicone liners I knew I had some crafting in my near future.

The Sunsella silicone baking cup molds are not specifically for cupcakes, but I'm going to call them cupcake liners because that's what they look like. The set of twelve come in six different colors, so two of each. According to the box they are 100% food safe, which I would hope so, and BPA, lead, and phthalate free. If you are like me you're probably wondering what phthalate is and why you should care, I had to Google it. Its a chemical used to soften plastics and vinyls but have been linked to lots of health issues so I'm pretty ok with these being free of it. The liners are also dishwasher (thank god), oven, microwave, and freezer safe. As far as using them for baking, they are to small to use an actual paper cupcake liner inside of, which I think limits when I'd actually use them for their intended purpose. I'm not bringing silicone liners to a party and risk having them lost or thrown away. But if I'm making muffins I'll probably bust these out.

Since they are smaller than the silicone mold I have been using, I feel that I'll be able to get more bath bombs out of my already published recipes, which is a nice perk. I have a new recipe I created just for these for stay tuned for that on Tuesday. I do like the ruffled edge, I think it gives the bombs a nice visual effect that the smooth sided mold doesn't. And because they are individuals I can pop one bomb out at a time without worrying about dumping a whole batch out onto my floor, not that I've ever done something as stupid as that....more than once. The different colors are really pretty too, I feel like I'm holding a rainbow every time I pick up the stack. And I like how sturdy they feel, I'm not concerned about destroying these at all.

Overall I'm really happy with these from a crafter's point of view, though as a baker I wish they were a touch bigger. And for $7.99 (at the time of this blog writing) with free Prime shipping they are a steal. I would pick up another set for sure if I knew I needed to make a ton of bath goodies in a shorter amount of time or if I ever decide to open a shop and sell my creations. I highly recommend these and I know I'll get a ton of use out of mine, I've already thought of 6 different projects to do while writing this blog.
