Weekend Tips and Tricks

First weekend of September, did everyone survive back to school? Any parents out there with a case of the weepies over first day of school? I know when my son starts school next year I'll be a bawling mess. This is why I only buy waterproof mascara. Here are some tips and tricks to help make your life (beauty wise) a little bit easier.

Tip#1: Want super easy beachy waves? Put your hair in braided pigtails before bed. Come morning, gently brush them out with a wide toothed comb (use dry shampoo on your roots if they are oily) them spray in some sea salt spray to help separate and maintain your wonderful waves. Easiest beach waves ever.

Tip #2: Nail polish stain your nails some horrible color? Mix hydrogen peroxide and baking soda into a paste and using a nail brush scrub the paste into your nails. It'll whiten them and remove the stain. This also makes a great DIY teeth whitening paste, though I should warn you it taste AWFUL.

Tip #3: This is another DO NOT DO tip, this time courtesy of Pinterest. There's several pins floating around about making lipstick out of crayons. While yes, crayons are non-toxic they shouldn't be used as makeup. It can make you very sick with continued use, so just stick to real lipstick please.

Tip #4: Sleep over somewhere and need to go somewhere but you look like a raccoon and have nothing to fix it with? Lotion on some toilet paper can work as a backup makeup fixer/remover. Just gently sweep under your eyes with the lotion soaked toilet paper and it should remove enough of it that you look more human than raccoon.

Tip #5: This is something I just learned about and thought I'd share. There's this website called Stylit that's basically a free virtual stylist. You select styles that you like out of their list, plus answer basic questions and every week the stylist creates different outfits (complete with accessories and makeup) that they think you'd like. You can rate them to help narrow down your style, and if you really like an item you can click on it and you'll be taken to a website where you can buy it. I'm loving it so far, already have some outfits planned for when it gets a little cooler here.

By the way, did you know I have a giveaway going on? You should enter.
